If 2025 felt heavy, you are not alone and you are not crazy.
For many business owners I spoke with throughout the year, there was a persistent sense of trudging through mud. Of pushing hard without traction. Of doing all the right things and still feeling like the year never quite lifted off.
There is a reason for that. And understanding it matters, because 2026 is a completely different story.
Why 2025 felt the way it did
I pay attention to cycles. Both in business and in the broader energetic patterns that shape the environment we operate in. And 2025 carried a very specific energy that I want to name before we talk about what is coming.
In numerology, 2025 was a Universal Year 9. The nine represents endings, completion, and the clearing of what no longer serves you. It is not an energy that supports bold new starts. It supports finishing, releasing, and making space. If you spent this year doing deep internal work, reassessing your direction, or quietly letting go of things that were not working, you were exactly where you were supposed to be.
Overlay that with the Chinese astrological energy of the Wood Snake. The Snake is strategic, introspective, and deliberate. It sheds its skin in silence. It does not announce its transformation. It simply completes it.
Together these energies made 2025 a year of shedding. Of clearing. Of the quiet but necessary work that happens before something new can begin.
And that clearing is now done.
What 2026 is asking of you
We have moved into a Universal Year 1. The energy of the initiator. Independent, forward-moving, and focused entirely on what comes next. The one does not look back. It plants seeds and moves.
In Chinese astrology we have entered the year of the Fire Horse. This combination occurs only once every sixty years. The Fire Horse is legendary for its speed, its boldness, and its uncontainable energy. It does not reward hesitation. It rewards those who are already moving when the starting gun fires.
So we have the fresh start energy of the Year 1 combined with the wild speed of the Fire Horse. That is an extraordinary combination. And for business owners who are ready, it is a genuine once in a generation opportunity.
But here is the risk.
Planning will not be enough in 2026
For the last several years the business world has been obsessed with strategy. We have filled hard drives with strategic plans. We have mapped roadmaps and designed frameworks and attended workshops about what we are going to do.
In a slow, introspective Snake year, that was fine. We had time to think.
In a Fire Horse year, thinking without moving will get you left behind.
The energy of 2026 will not reward the best roadmap. It will reward the best implementation. And that is something I have been speaking about for years, because it sits at the very heart of my book Why Knowing Isn't Enough.
We are not suffering from a lack of strategy. We are suffering from a lack of execution. We know what to do. We are stuck in the gap between the idea and the action. And in a year that moves at this speed, that gap becomes genuinely expensive.
If you throw a paper roadmap into a wildfire it just burns. But if you have a system for relentless focused action, what I call Lazercution, you can harness that fire to build something extraordinary.
My own shift going into this year
I want to be honest with you about something because I think it matters.
I spent much of 2025 doing my own dismantling. Looking at my business and asking what was maintenance and what was momentum. What I was holding onto out of habit and what I was truly building toward.
What became clear is that the world does not need more strategy dispensers. It needs people who will stand beside business owners and make sure the work actually gets done. Not just talked about. Done.
So as I moved into 2026 I made a decision. I stepped fully away from the identity of strategist and into the role of Implementation Mentor. Because that is where I can create the most genuine impact. And because it is the truth of what business owners actually need right now.
Three things worth doing before you charge ahead
Before you set goals and make plans for the year ahead, I want to suggest three things that will make everything else work better.
The first is to dismantle the busywork. Look at your to-do list honestly. How much of it is maintenance for a version of your business that no longer serves where you are going? Be ruthless. If it does not serve your 2026 vision, let it go now rather than carry it forward.
The second is to acknowledge what is ending. What worked for you in previous years may not be what moves you forward now. That is not failure. That is evolution. Thank it and release it. You cannot sprint carrying dead weight.
The third is to check your integrity. In a fast-moving year your word must be your bond. If you say you will do it, do it. Bold action builds momentum. Hesitation and broken commitments, especially to yourself, do the opposite.
This year rewards the finishers
The Knowing-Doing Gap has always been expensive. In 2026 it will be more expensive than ever. Because the opportunity is real and the window is moving fast.
Stop perfecting the roadmap. The energy is at your back. The only question is whether you are ready to move with it.
